CBD Nature Trail

Our Future Masterton Hub 15 Queen Street and wider CBD
16 November 2017 - ongoing
CBD Nature Trail is a proposed nature trail created from a series of temporary organic structures in various locations in Masterton CBD, and connecting to the surrounding "lungs" of the town, such as Queen Elizabeth and Henley Parks, as well as other existing smaller green spaces in the CBD.
As part of Our Future Masterton Community Pop Up Hub artist Siv B Fjaerestad did a call out to the community in November 2017.
With installations, CBD maps and displays, Siv invited locals to join her at the Community Hub to share stories, gather information around the environment, with special emphasis on the waterways, their favourite trees and medicinal plants in the CBD and beyond, and to propose locations for temporary activations scheduled to be in place around April/May next year.
Siv gave demonstrations in using a plant press to help press plants to be combined in a temporary pop up herbarium, as well as other activities.
The work is being produced by Wairarapa artist Siv B.Fjaerestad. She worked previously with Letting Space on the large field painting with community development in Wellington Projected Fields.
